An assumptively organic understanding of creativity

The following is a poem I had written upon being enthralled by paintings by Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt during a trip to a museum in Vienna quite a while back . It is based on a very spontaneous insight I felt that day of what an organic and symbiotic interaction the creative process can be.

Everything is subjective,

And I’m part of the objective:

To find out where we’re going.

I’m a tiny miniscule

As important as all others.

It’s a crusade along with my brothers.

The painter moves her hands.

The brush, aware, keeps nobly still.

The paint has a dab of viscous arrogance,

Like necessary positive criticism.

Once the paint settles on its spot,

The paper let’s go of it’s past,

Takes in the new:

The turquoise, the crimson hue.

Blessed by the sun and the sky,

Introduced to the eye.

The new layer of green

Must show traces of the blue days of the past.

Scars must be worn reverently,

For, the scar is a brother

And flaws are attributes.

The two layers are undertaken

By the slow catalyst that is time.

I mustn’t mistake the eye to be just a judge.

It is as important as the hand

Because it has its own personality.

It may package destiny with a transparent sheet

Or it may even dig in completely,

Destroy the creation,

And end up creating.

What does creativity feel like to you? Where does it come from?
